The Montreal Press Dispatch newspaper was founded in 1985 in Montreal, Quebec by Larry B. Belgica, a Filipino journalist, and businessman who immigrated to Canada in 1984 to join his son Lazaro M. Belgica, who is now the editor and publisher of the digital edition.
The tabloid newspaper, published monthly, covered Community news, International affairs, and cultural events. Initially, the newspaper, a member of the Montreal Press Club, circulated in downtown Montreal and within the ever-growing Philippine Community.
In 1987, President Corazon Aquino appointed Larry B. Belgica as the first Philippine Honorary Consul General for Quebec and the Maritimes. The newspaper was inactive from 1991 onward and revived in 2021.
Today, the digital newspaper offers local, international, sports, business news, opinion, arts and entertainment, and lifestyle features.
